Fourkiller, a lifelong resident of Adair County, is the son of Edith and the late George D. Fourkiller.  Along with his wife, Kerrie,
who is the school nurse at Dahlonegah Elementary School, and
their son Toss, he owns and operates a farm in the Peavine
Community.  He is a member of the Cherokee Nation and the
family attends Antioch Baptist Church.  Fourkiller comes from a
large family; seven out of eight brothers and sisters are in the
field of education.  He credits his mother for advocating family
values and the need for education to her children and
grandchildren.
Education/Occupation

*Fourkiller is a graduate from Northeastern State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in
Education.  He was an educator/coach for 13 years in
Adair County.

"My decision to go into education was a given," Fourkiller
said.  "My mom, suddenly finding herself a single parent,
went to college to make a better life for herself and her
family.  She not only told us education was important, but
she showed us the way."

*In 2008, he graduated from OU Tulsa with a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing (BSN).  He currently works at W.W.
Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah as an RN.

"My decision to get an RN degree came about when my
young son was very ill.  I was able to see first-hand the
importance of our medical professionals and what issues
they face every day.  We were lucky to be able to afford
the insurance that was needed for Toss to be able to
receive the care that saved his life.  It made me think of
my baby brother whom we lost in 1974.  With proper
health care, he may have lived.  How many millions of
people do not have access to affordable health care, and
how long are we, the working class, going to be able to
afford it?
